Travel, Travel, Travel

September has been great! Kirk and I went to Chicago the beginning of the month for Kirk's Iron Man Triathlon in Madison, WI! That was more stressful than if I were doing it myself. Kirk decided to race anyway even though he was under trained, had two broken wrists (one of which was still in a cast), a bad knee, and an ear infection from the week before. I thought he might die! Luckly bad luck was on our side. He actually made it through the 2.4 mile swim and was still smiling even though he panicked a bit at the bigging of the swim. The bike, on the other hand, didn't go quite as smoothly. A little ways into the ride his brake pad came flying off the bike and as he was looking at his weak brake he rode off into some weeds with little braking power. Pop! There went his front tire. luckly he packed two spare tires on him so 1/2 hour later he was back on the road. As he began to fatigue his head began drifting lower and lower and POP went the back tire as he road off into more weeds. 1/2 hour later with no more spares he was off again when suddenly POP! He didn't pull out one of the stickers from the previous flat and his new tube was worthless. So he began walking his bike hoping they could help him at the next aid station. A couple miles later he made it to the station cursing Ironman. When he got there hoping for some help they told him he would not make the next cut off time and that his race was finished. He was forced off the course wiether he wanted to or not. He's not sure if he would have made it but was frusterated he didn't get the chance. As hard as it was to see him disappointed after all his work to get there I have to say, I was a little relieved. I was really worried for his safety and I believe the Lord answered my prayers by keeping him safe. It was a crazy experience!

It has been too long since my last blog. Since I last added anything we had Nana here visiting during Henderson's baptism. It was so nice to have her here. The kids have really missed her since we have moved so far away. They got used to having her around. We really miss you Nana!
We have been enjoying the summer and the cool nights. Last weekend our high was about 50 degrees. It was nice but it gave us a little reality check as to what's comming this winter. Burr! We have spent the summer swimming, hiking, playing with a million friends, and playing with family. It's been fun but I have never been soooo ready for school to start. I usually feel a little sad when school first starts. Not this year!! Let it come, bring on the fall! The kids aren't starting until September 4th because they are starting a new school that isn't quit finished yet. If they hold the start date back any further I may need to be committed.

A Little Late

OK so I'm not the best blogger. In fact since my sister set up our account I have yet to figure it out. Here goes nothing. Just remember, first blog, I may have some learning curves. This may or may not include pictures, we'll see if I or my computer is smarter. I just found a place where people can make comments and it was fun to hear from people I haven't heard from in a long time. Please keep sending messages, I'll send something back when I figure out how. It's really nice to hear from you.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

We spent Christmas in Utah this year. The whole family made it, and we had a blast. We bought a new car, spent a fortune at Sports Authority, experienced true chaos with 11 children 7 and under, went skiing, sledding, to dinner, shopping, and got stranded for 2 days in Silverthorn, CO. It was quite the vacation.

We were there until the park closed. Good times!

For Kennedy, not so much!

For Kennedy, not so much!
It may be one of Bubba's favorites but for my little princess it would be a great day for a doctors note. By the end both her legs were broken and her eyes were burning. Poor thing!

We were at the top of the farris wheel and Campbell was getting mad at me because I wasn't letting her jump off the side. What a terrible Mom I am.

Chewbacca

Chewy is our newest addition to the family. He is an awesome dog and we love him but I will never call myself a pet parent. I am a parent to three children (some times four including Kirk), Chewy is our pet. That's it.

We celebrated Easter after only one week in the house. The kids loved it although they wondered where our Texas family was. They were missed.

The Big 1

The Big 1
Campbell just turned 1 on May 25th. I can't believe it's already been a year! She did all her favorite things... we sang, we danced, we all looked at her, she played with new toys, and most importantly she ate a lot of food. Finally one child took after Daddy in that department. We spent the day with my aunts and some cousins. I'll send more pictures when I get them.

Weekend Getaway

My Dad and I met in Farmington and did an XTerra race together. It's fun we can do that stuff together. It will be a sad day when I can beat him.

She's Walking!

She's Walking!
I started to get worried about my parenting abilities. Campbell seemed to be learning more from the dog than from any of us. She's learned that everything tastes better if eaten from the floor, bitting everyone is supposed to be playful and cute, dog food always tops off a good meal, and walking on all fours is the only way. Success!!! She has decided that maybe two feet are better than four! I can sleep better tonight knowing there's still hope.

Just like Big Brother

Just like Big Brother
It looks as though Campbell's following in her brother's foot steps. She is happiest when she is outside. This was at my cousins 13th birthday party. He and Campbell share the same birthdayday. This was her first time in a pool and she was in heaven! I finally had to take her out becuase her lips were blue. She didn't want to go.

Bubba had to show his true Texan by wearing his Astros hat to a Rockies game. His Dad was so proud!

Tiny Town

Tiny Town
One of our first ventures was a trip in the foothills to Tiny Town with my Aunt Karen. The whole town was just that, tiny. It had everything a tiny person would need for a cute little town, from a fire station to a water tower this town had it. It even had the nicer part of town. It was cute!

We had an awesome 4th with bad Mexican food, a tone deaf band, and a great fireworks display! It really was a fun night!!!!

Bubba did a little kids race this weekend and had a muddy blast! It was his kind of race, lots of kids to compete against and tons of mud!

It was a Fun House!

Henderson's baptism was beautiful. It couldn't have gone better. We had a lot of friends and family show up although we really missed the ones who were unable to come. Having eight cousins all under the same roof for 4 days was awesome! It may have been crazy, it may have been loud, maybe even a little distructive, but these kids had fun being together and I had a good time watching them. This is just after Henderson's baptism in front of the church. They all made it through an hour and a half. The adults, on the other hand, weren't holding up as well. Hence, kids only picture. i can't find the pictures we took just before the baptism. For those of you who have them could you please forward some onto me so I can get them up.

Evan Henderson Ginn

Evan Henderson Ginn
This last Saturday was a roller coaster day. My baby was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Chraist of Latter Day Saints. Kirk and I couldn't be more excited to see the excitement in Bubba, to have so much of our family come to witness it, and to have my Grandpa come, who doubtfully has set foot in any church in over 30 years. We did, however, feel a great loss. The one great man who I attribute to making my husband the man is today, Evan Ginn. He passed away last August and there has been such a void since. When we were told we needed to provide one talk on the Holy Ghost our hearts sank. We have always imagined Pakka being at Bubba's baptism and sharing his wise words the way he always did, so elliquently. Lucky for us the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Kirk spoke in his fathers place and, I know, made his father proud. Kirk, like his father, is a born teacher and brings the spirit into the meeting so convincingly. I don't think Bubba will ever forget it. Because of Evan's kind heart and his love for the gospel his only grandson, his namesake, is following in his footsteps. Henderson has his tender heart, his willingness to give and to love all he meets, and his understanding of sacrifice. Evan was missed greatly that day but the spirit he left with us is carrying on to a new generation. We love you Pakka!

What are the odds of having two babies due on the same day two years apart, born 3 weeks early, and still have the same birthday??? I don't know but somehow we managed it. Every year so far we've celebrated the kids birthday's together and both have been happy. Every year I say it's the last time and we'll have to start having seperate celebrations. Well this year was the last. Both Bubba and Kennedy had an awesome year. Both said it was their best birthday ever! The week before there birthday we had the big friends party so on their birthday we decided to spend it as a family and go to Elich Gardens (an amuzement park here). We had an awesome day! Kirk is managing to give all three kids a ride at the same time. Don't worry, Campbell's strapped in!

You wouldn't believe how fast we were spinning. I'm getting sick just thinking about it.

Holy Birthday!

Holy Birthday!
Bubba has been having a hard time since we've moved to Colorado because he misses his old friends so much. I thought I would be a good Mom and tell him he could invite whom ever he wanted to his birthday party. I even decided we would do it on the last day of school so maybe more school friends could be there. Well, of course, I had to do the same for Kennedy as well seeings how they share the same birthday. To make a long story short, I will never do that again! We had over 35 kids show up to the POOL party! Luckly we did it at our neighborhood park and pool. They had fun. I am still recovering.

Friends, Friends, Friends

Friends, Friends, Friends
Ok, so I'm a bad Mom. Bubba and Kenny had the ultimate birthday bash and I forgot the camera. The party got so out-of-control we had to open all the presents at home. The party may have gotten crazy but I consider it a success with no fatalities involved! I'm 75% sure we had no missing children either.

Skate, Kennedy Skate

Skate, Kennedy Skate
For some reason Kennedy had it in her head that if we moved to Denver that means she had to be a skater. She's been asking to do it ever since before we got here, so here she is, rather than gymnastics it's now ice skating. That's Kennedy going under the bridge.

Bubba's kind of school!

Bubba's kind of school!
Bubba thinks field day is the second greatest day of school all year, after the last day of school, of course. You show up in tennis shoes and run all day and you don't even get in trouble for it. You would think it was a hot day the way Henderson was acting. It was a breazy 75 degee's. I don't know what he'll do if we ever move into heat again.

Weekend get away

Weekend get away
This last weekend we took a quick trip out to Farmington, NM. OK, Farmington's got its own type of beauty but you can't dispute how gorgeous the drive was to get there. You can barely see Bubba and I to the side of the waterfall. It may not look like it but we were getting soaked!

My Family

My Family
Thanks to my family for making such a strong effort to all be there. I know it wasn't easy for a lot of you and I can't tell you how much it means to me that you were all there. We missed those of you who just couldn't make it.

I'm Slowly Learning

OK so I've been getting grief from a lot of you about getting my blog going. I'm not the brightest girl when it comes to using new computer stuff not to mention it's a lot like scrap booking and I'm not the best at that either. But I do want to thank all who have harrassed me and especially you Kristy. She set the whole think up for me and even put together all that was there for the last, how-ever-many-months. Thanks to all of you, I can now download my pictures on to my computer and I can even find them after I've done that! Who'd a thunk it. Now I have a place to put it all and keep as well as keep in touch with all of you. Ok, now there's one more favor I need from someone. How do I put your links on to my page, how do I answer your messages, and how do I send you messages? I have a million more questions but these are the biggies right now. Now don't think I'm not smart I'm sure I'm smarter than you at something, somewhere! Thanks in advance for your help. I love you all.

We're not in Houston anymore, Toto!

We're not in Houston anymore, Toto!
Henderson told me the other day that it is sad how they cut all the trees down here. "Why would they do that?" he finished. I had to explain to him that it's not people cutting all the trees down, Denver's a little different from Houston.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
Although we didn't get to Denver until the Spring it doesn't mean we missed out on the snow. We had several snow storms, including Easter Sunday. We loved a late spring even if everyone else around us weren't so appreciative.

Ask Kirk what the best part of living in Colorado is, besides being surrounded by liberals... "Do you know how many games we can drive to from here?" Bubba and Kirk took a boys trip to Utah for Spring Practice.
